Recommended Minimum System Requirements for the FEM:

PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN:
The student version is designed only for small, academic simulations. There is a node limit in the model:

  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows (Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 10 supported).
  • Hardware: A standard computer is required.

ANSYS:
The academic version is designed only for small, academic simulations.

  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows (Windows 10 supported).
  • RAM: 4 GB or more is recommended.
  • CPU: At least a dual-core CPU with a clock speed of 2.0 GHz or higher is recommended.

CivilFEM by MARC:
The student version is designed only for small, academic simulations. The model is limited to 5000 nodes (1000 beam elements).

  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows (Windows 7 and Windows 10 supported).
  • Storage: 2.5 GB of hard disk space required (800 MB for CivilFEM and 1.7 GB for Marc).
