Today, the use of the computational capabilities of supercomputers in Iran for scientific research and computational studies has become increasingly significant. The construction of supercomputers using the concept of parallel processing is a key initiative in this field. Parallel processing, or parallel computing, involves executing a program divided into smaller tasks simultaneously on multiple processors to achieve higher speed. Problem-solving processes can be divided into smaller sub-tasks, which, when executed simultaneously and coordinated, solve the main issue in a shorter time.
Key advantages of parallel processing over serial processing include reduced computation time, the ability to solve larger problems, overcoming memory limitations, cost efficiency, and leveraging modern technologies.
To date, six supercomputer centers in Iran provide strategic technology services to researchers under the Strategic Technologies Laboratory Network. These centers are:
